The first edition of Universal Design for Learning: Theory and Practice, written by Meyer, Rose, and Gordon and published in 2014, is available at no cost on CAST's Clusive® platform.
Clusive is a flexible and customizable digital reading tool developed by CAST and its partners in the federally funded Center on Inclusive Software for Learning (CISL). It contains scaffolds and supports designed with accessibility and Universal Design for Learning in mind.

New Edition Available!
In July 2024, CAST released an updated edition of this foundational text titled Universal Design for Learning: Principles, Framework, and Practice. This new edition features new insights into accessible materials, universally designed learning environments, the critical role of context, and strategies for implementation, and is available in print (ISBN: 9781943085255) and EPUB (ISBN: 9781943085033) formats.
